                                        Intensive Program

1-Space suit therapy
History of space suit:
In the late 1960's the Russian center for Aeronautical and space
medicine have invented the Penguin suit to be worn by Astronauts
during their long stay in space to prevent harmful effects of zero gravity, absence of gravitational force,on the musculoskeletal system results on complication of immobilization.on the other hand cerebral palsy child can't over come the force of gravity lead to more immobilization result in complication of immobilization. After many years of research, the Penguin suit was modified to the adeli suit and used for rehabilitation of (cp) and other neuromuscular disorders with successful results.
In the mid 90's Euromed clinic in Poland have taken a further step in this new technique and developed an Intensive suit therapy utilizing the adeli suit.
In 2002 therasuit LLC company developed a new suit (thera suit) and started promoting the Intensive suit therapy in the U.S.A.
In january 2007 the Inensive course begin in CURE STEP CENTER by DR.MOHAMED ORABY
using the space suit.
space suit:

A breathable easy to wear suit designed to correct the posture and movements of the cp patient.
it consists of a cap ,vest, short, knee pad  and adapted shoes that are connected through a system of elastics and adjustable supportive straps.
the elastics and the adjustable supportive straps put the body in proper alignment to teach the cp child the proper pattern of movement. they also tend to approximate the joints , which will stimulate the proprioception that gives the patient a clear feeling of joints ,leading to easier control of movement.
the elastics resist all muscles at the same time so strengthening all muscles responsible for normal pattern of movement at the same time, also resistance is big proprioceptive stimualtion.
the elastics will add a load of (15 - 40 kg.) to the already existing gravitational force making the cp child learn to deal with both loads at the same time, which will strengthen the anti gravity force ( muscles). this will give more strength to muscles in their fight against gravity once they are off the space suit.
The elastics of the upper limbs will add a tension force in the direction of the trunk this will stimulate and strength the muscules responsible for the reaching mechanism and improve the function of the hands.
The space suit's elastics will also resist the respiratory muscles, resulting in improving the ventilation capacity of the lungs, therefor improving speech.
our bungy suit is differ from other types of suits that it is most adhesive so it act like splint to support the trunk, pelvis and knees.also this give compressive feeling as wrapping.

the space suit in itself is nothing but it duplicate the benefits of the exercises done in it.there are special exercises for the space suit.
it takes 2 h and half of the intensive program.

2-Spider therapy

Spider was first invented by the firma Norman in 1993.
Spider is an in space therapy by a system of elastics and special belts that eliminate gravity to a calculated degree, making the weight lighter.this will make the cp child can move without fear from falling and the normal pattern of movement can be taught in addition to the developmental of muscle strength.
The spider allows the development of all gross motor developmental area like head control, sitting, creeping, kneeling, standing, walking and so on.spider takes one hour of the intesive program.
 3-Multi gym unit ( ugul therapy )

The MGU (ugul therapy) is used to teach the c.p child the normal
pattern of movement and to strength muscles associated to
the pattern. By induction of resistive force ( weights ) and avoiding compensatory movements from weakened or affected group of muscles , while gravitational force is eliminated, the exercise can be focused on a particular proper movement.
When you strength the muscle you need the following :-
1- Active motion.
2- Full range of motion or maximum.
3- Reach to the point of fatigue.
4- Resistance should be above physiological limits and below
failure limits.
5-Isolate the muscle action.
Ugul therapy is the propr way to strength the weak muscle of the c.p child but normal multi gym can't be used because multi gym needs stable person who can sit at least and also need one who can make isolated motion not synergy.
for this reason we develope the ugul therapy to provide the child with
the above abilities. (ugul) takes one hour of the intesive  program.
4-Cooling down therapy
We use this therapy between vigorous work of suit, spider and ugul program as the cp child must be cooled down and work with less effort, but without complete rest.in such therapy we use splints , stand frame, repetitive simple exercises, gait trainning, weightless walking device, biking, etc.
depending on the evaluation of the cp patient.
cooling down takes 1 h and half of the intensive program

     Benefits of intensive program
  • Trains and re-trains the central nervous system through neural plasticity.
  • Normalizes the muscle tone through neural plasticity.
  • Improves the gross motor abilities.
  • Improves the fine motor abilities.
  • Stimulates the reaching mechanism of upper limbs.
  • Strengths the muscles of the reaching mechanism of UL.
  • Improves posture alignment as close as possible to norm.
  • Reaching maximum functional abilities of the patient.
  • Restores normal physiological function to the joint.
  • Restores normal physiological function to the muscles.
  • Restores normal physiological structure to the bones.
  • Decreases tactile hypersensitivity.
  • Induces proper pattern of movement.
  • Stimulates the vestibular system.
  • Improves balance and coordination.
  • Trains patient to use his/her strong potentials to compensate the weak ones.
  • Trains patient to control spasticity, hypotonia and involuntary movement.
  • Stimulate and increases the antigravity mechanism.
  • Strengths the antigravity force.
  • Improves perceptual abilities.
  • Improves speech through strengthening of respiratory muscles.
  • Improves academic skills.
  • Promotes social skills.
